Understanding Cisco Dynamic Multipoint VPN - DMVPN, mGRE, … The diagram below shows a point-to-point GRE VPN network. All spokes connect directly to the hub using a tunnel interface. The hub router is configured with three separate tunnel interfaces, one for each spoke: Each GRE tunnel between the hub-spoke routers is configured with its unique network ID. Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol - Wikipedia The Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) is an obsolete method for implementing virtual private networks.PPTP has many well known security issues. PPTP uses a TCP control channel and a Generic Routing Encapsulation tunnel to encapsulate PPP packets. Many modern VPNs use various forms of UDP for this same functionality.. The PPTP specification does not describe encryption or authentication Encrypted GRE Tunnel with IPSEC - Encrypted GRE Tunnel with IPSec refers to the encryption of the information sent over a GRE tunnel using the functionalities of IPSec. GRE over IPSec is not that specific and it depends on what the person speaking really means. IPSec used in combination with GRE can function in two ways, either in tunnel mode, or transport mode. PPTP, IPSec, and L2TP are all older protocols. For example, a PPTP passthrough actually replaces GRE (a tunneling protocol used by PPTP) with enhanced GRE. That’s why when we’re talking about VPN passthrough, we’re actually using an umbrella term that encompasses PPTP, IPSec, and L2TP passthroughs. Multipoint GRE. We’ve discussed GRE tunnels before. They’re generally point-to-point tunnels, with or without encryption. Their problem is scalability. As mentioned earlier, creating many point-to-point tunnels is a lot of work. Along comes Multipoint-GRE to the rescue! This is the basis of DMVPN. GRE Interfaces¶ In pfSense® software, GRE tunnels are configured under Interfaces > (assign) on the GRE tab. GRE (Generic Route Encapsulation) is defined in RFC 2784. It is supported by many vendors, and is a standards-compliant means to tunnel traffic. GRE tunnels can be managed from the list view.

What is IPsec? IPsec is a group of protocols that are used together to set up encrypted connections between devices. It helps keep data sent over public networks secure. IPsec is often used to set up VPNs, and it works by encrypting IP packets, along with authenticating the source where the packets come

AWS VPN - Cloud VPN - Amazon® Web Services AWS Client VPN is a fully-managed, elastic VPN service that automatically scales up or down based on user demand. Because it is a cloud VPN solution, you don’t need to install and manage hardware or software-based solutions, or try to estimate how many remote users to support at one time.
